Snicker's White Review
Not sure what is with the trend of taking the classic chocolate bars and making a "white" version s well as a dark, maple or whatever other version they can come up with. I gave Snickers White a try, you can check out the video below and then pick up the bar and see what you think.

Snickers review
Here we go people. Strap in, because its time to finally review the Snickers.
Walking the Candy Aisle rates Snickers - 5 / 5
This is a true classic and one of the few heavy hitters that seemed to have slipped by me until now. For the next little while I'll be working to rectify that by addressing a few of the biggest candy and chocolates that I've missed, but remember you can always drop me an email, or post a comment below if you have a suggestion for a review.
Snickers is a Mars product, for more please visit the aptly named http://snickers.com/. And for more reviews please head over to our Reviews Page.

Halloween Favorites
Halloween is almost upon us and I realized that I haven't really gotten into my favorites here on the Candy Aisle. Everyone has the candy that makes them happiest and Halloween was like a proving ground for all other times of year. The candy runs the gamut from the absolute best, to the total pits. And the best part about the game is that you have absolutely no control over what you'll end up with. This is a really special time of year, and it should be celebrated. A few of my favorites are demanding their due, so let's have a look.
Of course I am a sucker for true candy bars. So anyone giving out fun sized chocolate was a winner in my book. I always heard about that mythical house that would give out full sized chocolate bars, but it wasn't in my neighborhood. Some of my friends lived in ritzier places though and I'm sure they saw the full sized Snickers and Mars bars. For me I was just happy to get something Fun Sized!
Snickers and Jersey Milk were the most common, but I was a sucker for anything real and fun sized. Butterfinger and Baby Ruth were always appreciated because for a long time you couldn't get Butterfinger here in Canada, and you still can't get Baby Ruth (except at this time of year). I really liked the mini Snickers as a kid, but thinking about it now I can't say if I'm actually sure they would work with full sized peanuts in such a small bar. Mars bars and 3 Musketeers we're really my favorite fun sized bars. Thankfully these were also both pretty common in my neighborhood of Toronto growing up.
What else struck my fancy? Well chips were always a change of pace. You could never count on getting them. In fact I'm sure there were a few years when I didn't get any chips, but a mini bag of Doritos Cool Ranch would always be appreciated as a break between candy bracelets, and mini chocolates.
Rockets. In the States these are called Smarties. I seriously LOVE these things. They have that sightly sweet and slightly tart taste that was around long before the actual SweetTart candies. They are small, and totally portable, even concealable, in your pocket as you went off the school. Making for a great mid-class snack. And you didn't have to even eat the whole pack at once! In terms of taste, form factor, portability, everything, Rockets are top notch.
Finally you get into the odd man out circumstances. Nowadays no one is going to get kids candy cigarettes (actually while they do still make them they are mostly marketed as candy 'sticks' instead of cigarettes). And Atomic Fireballs are such a hassle to get a hold of compared to other treats that these aren't too common anymore. But these are great examples of the weird and wonderful beauty of Halloween. As a kid you just never knew what you were going to get. It could be a candy, or a chocolate you'd never tried before. As a Canadian, it could excitingly be something that is only available in the States. Or it could just be an old favorite. The possibilities were endless.
There's a simple joy, and wonder in finding out what sort of candy you'll get on Halloween as a kid. Its so exciting, and such an adventure, aside from all the sugar and actually eating everything. For me a huge part of the magic of Halloween was just in the act of trick or treating. It's a great experience, and I definitely hope to continue the tradition with my kids.
Let me know what your favorites were and if you have any fond memories of Halloween nights past :)

Snickers Peanut Butter - video review
Time to check out the peanut buttery version of an old classic, it's Snickers Peanut Butter.
Not as great as I was hoping, but still ok.

Snickers Peanut Butter review
Peanut butter, peanuts, nougat, caramel, and milk chocolate! sounds like a dream come true. it can only mean that its time for another review. Today we're looking at Snickers Peanut Butter.
And lest we forget, this bar is "squared". Well there's alot to get into with this one so lets get cracking. Frst I should say that I am and have always been a Snickers fan. I like peanuts, I like their nougat, I like the chocolate. And although I am new to the Snickers Peanut Butter bar I AM a huge fan of Peanut Butter, so this is a mighty fine proposition. The fact that its in an odd square form factor doesn't so too much for me. Maybe its supposed to make it easier to save some for later...
In fact that must be it considering the prominent "twist to close - save one for later" nonsense on the side of the packaging. Very odd.... My guess is that some marketing person somewhere told them that the anticipation for eating the chocolate bar is more important than the actual eating of it and they just rolled with it. Even though I'm married and consequentially legally required to share my candy (at least that's what my wife says...) I'm not really a fan of the trend though.
One final note on the packaging though. I seriously have always hated the SNickers logo. Its a stupid font and their choice of colors usually makes their candy bar look like a healthly power bar or something. Ok fine those things may not have existed when they Snickers was invented but they do now, and the Mars company would do well to at least consider something less tacky.
Getting the bar out itself the chocolate actually looks and smells pretty good. It may be a smaller size overall, especially since they get you on the spaces between the two chocolates inside the packaging, but the square really does feel square. its got a real width to it. and that kind of proportion makes it at least feel bigger. Of course this is a slippery lope and of course the next logical step.... cubed!
Alright, so moving into the bar. Here's how it looks bitten away.
Hmm. Definitely interesting and not what I was expecting. the peanut butter is sweeter than I am used to. Not in a terrible Russell Stover peanut butter egg kind of way, but it feels like its might have a little extra sugar added. A bit more candy-fied than I'd prefer. Frankly since this is the star if the show I'm not too impressed. When I want peanut and chocolate butter I usually go for a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, and this is definitely no Reese. From top to bottom in that picture above you'll see chocolate, caramel, peanut butter, nougat, peanuts, and chocolate. A few notes here, I'm not sure why they need peanuts if they have peanut butter. Isn't this bar for someone who doesn't want to deal with the full peanuts you find in a Snickers bar? It seems redundant on one hand, and alienating on the other to put them (especially just a few of them) in there. Next the caramel is not really up to par; like everything in the bar, its not so bad, its just nothing special. It doesn't melt o mix really well into the totally adequate chocolate.
This bar is fine, not great but fine. I think if I feel like eating a Snicker though I'll probably just go and get a Snickers, and if I feel like something with peanut butter and chocolate then I'll probably go get a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. I don't see myself getting this again. I didn't hate it but its very middle of the road, and it had some real potential.
Walking the Candy Aisle Rates Snickers peanut Butter: 3 / 5
This is really a pretty weak 3 as well. Oh and in case you we're wondering. The twist and save some for later can be seen here. I was thinking it maybe like had a built in wire (a la a twist tie) in the packaging but no.... And because of that it just doesn't really work all that well. But I suppose that's pretty apt for this candy bar.Hopefully I'll get something a bit better next week.

Walking the Ice Cream Aisle
Sidestepping the candy aisle today I took a stroll down the ice cream aisle today at my local Target.
Let me tell you there are a lot of candy and chocolate bars to be found in ice cream these days. Here's some of what I came across.
Ok, so I threw a few others in there too but wow, it's pretty awesome to see so much chocolate and candy in the ice cream aisle!

YUM! |
The Girl Scouts would be proud :)
These are GREAT! |
I don't think these Popsicle flavors would work in regular ice cream but they seem a good fit here.
A classic |

Bunnies
We've already had a look at how many Easter egg chocolates and candies there are at this time of year. Today lets see what we've got in terms of bunnies.
Oddly, iI my local candy aisle, aside from a few outliers there really only two companies in the chocolate Easter bunny game, Russell Stover and Palmer. On with the pictures...
That's all I managed to find in my candy aisle. However I did make a trip out to the bigger Walgreens down the road a bit and found a few more to share...
Do you have any different or special bunnies in your aisle? Let me know in the comments. I think of these I'd probably go with the cookies 'n creme Hershey bunny, the Reester Bunny, or the Russell Stover solid milk chocolate with crispies one.
Question, why are there no licensed bunnies here? You would think at the very least Bugs could lend his face to a chocolate rabbit? I'm not suggesting we need a full run of Watership Down chocolates (that would be depressing), but I'd definitely be inclined to buy a Roger Rabbit, or Bucky O'Hare chocolate.
Think about it...

Hollow = Fail. |
this seems like a good idea though. |
I think this is the one I'd go for. YUM. |
little. |
medium. |
big. |
This packaging makes me angry. Why are they covering the bunny's face??? |
Easter classic |
Ok, not technically a bunny chocolate, but it sure looks good :) |
The only Hershey bunny in the lot. Sounds pretty good. |
mmm PEZ... |
a HUGE bunny! |
Comes with a book! |
Reading and Chocolate bunnies together at last... |
Ahh... good ol' Snapsy the Bunny. |
Is that the Noid?! |
Peanut Butter YUM |
WTF is this?!?! |
It comes in 3 flavors too! |
Is that a bunny? |
